Columbia Police Chief Skip Holbrook announces that the victim in yesterday’s stabbing investigation on Phillips Street has died and the suspect is behind bars charged with murder.

Amanda Latrese Goodwin (DOB: 6-1-1991) is also charged with Possession of a Weapon during the Commission of a Violent Crime.

Goodwin is accused of stabbing the victim who has been identified by Richland County Coroner Gary Watts as Curtis B. Rowe, Senior (DOB: 1-3-1961).

An autopsy conducted earlier today indicated that Rowe died from excessive blood loss due to multiple stab wounds to the thigh, one of which lacerated the femoral artery.

Investigators believe that Rowe was visiting family at the 3600 block of Phillips Street yesterday afternoon when an argument turned physical between the victim and suspect. A witness intervened to break up the fight when Goodwin allegedly stabbed Rowe multiple times. Rowe was later pronounced deceased at a local hospital.

Goodwin has been booked at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center. All persons arrested/charged are presumed innocent until or unless proven guilty in a court of law.
