Mayor Benjamin

Keeping Columbia Safe

As a former director of the South Carolina Department of Probation, Parole and Pardon Services, the state’s second largest law enforcement agency, Mayor Benjamin took office in 2010 committed not only to supporting those who put their lives on the line every single day to keep us and our families safe, but to strengthening the foundation of trust and accountability that exists between our communities and the men and women who are sworn to serve and protect them

Since taking office, he’s made good on that pledge increasing public safety spending by well over $12 million, providing well-deserved pay raises to our first responders and launching his comprehensive Justice for All initiative focusing on increased and improved Training, Diversity, Accountability and Community Engagement.
