Columbia Police Investigators continue to determine the circumstances surrounding the double shooting that occurred on Truax Lane near Two Notch Road this morning.
Richland County Coroner Gary Watts has confirmed that a male child and male adult, who are related, have died as a result of their injuries.
Based on witness information and evidence collected at the scene, it appears that the shooting was an isolated incident. There is no threat to public safety in connection with the shooting.
CPD officers were dispatched to the 4200 block of Truax Street shortly after 11:00 a.m.
When they arrived they found the injured child, then moments later, the injured male. Both were taken to a local hospital where they were pronounced deceased.
The Richland County Coroner’s Office has scheduled the autopsies for tomorrow morning.
