In an effort to locate juveniles who have been reported as runaways by family members, guardians or the SC Department of Social Services, the Columbia Police Department (CPD) is highlighting 2019 investigations.
CPD is investigating several cases of juvenile runaways, or those who left a location without permission from May to August 2019. The juveniles range from 14 to 17-years-old and include seven females and two males.
The names of the juvenile runaways have been entered into the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) database and that means if a law enforcement officer across the country locates the teen, CPD will be notified and arrangements to return the child will be made by a parent or state-ordered caregiver/guardian.
