A man accused of fatally shooting a 46-year-old man over the weekend at a convenience store has been arrested.
According to Chief W.H. ‘Skip’ Holbrook, 35-year-old Joseph Kennedy has been charged with Murder and Possession of a Weapon during a Violent Crime.
Shortly after midnight on May 19, 2024, Kennedy allegedly shot and killed the victim, identified by the Richland County Coroner as 46-year-old Jevon Belton after an argument at the EZ Spot convenience store at 3213 Farrow Road. According to a witness, Kennedy fled the scene after the crime.
Shortly before 8:00 p.m. on the same day the crime happened, Kennedy returned to the incident location where CPD officers arrested him.
Kennedy is housed at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center (ASGDC).
All persons arrested/charged are presumed innocent until or unless proven guilty in a court of law.
