Criminal Investigations Bureau

The Criminal Investigations Bureau (CIB) consists of sworn and civilian personnel that are responsible for the day to day investigative functions for the department.

The bureau encompasses the following units:

  • Violent Crimes against Persons (VCAP)
  • Property Crimes Unit
  • Special Victim’s Unit (SVU)
  • Burglary Unit
  • Midlands Gang Task Force
  • Organized Crime/Narcotics (OCN)
  • Fugitive Team
  • Federal Task Forces
  • Crime Scene Investigation (CSI)
  • Polygraph Unit
  • Crime Gun Intel Center (CGIC)

Each unit has unique responsibilities as it relates to criminal activity, thus personnel assigned receive specialized training in order to effectively combat crime in their respective areas. Personnel assigned to CIB are required maintain open communication with law enforcement partners to ensure information is shared between agencies.
