23-Year-Old Suspect Arrested in Bojangles Fatal Shooting

Columbia Police Department (CPD) investigators have arrested a 23-year-old man in connection with last week’s fatal shooting at a Bojangles restaurant.

Police Chief W. H. ‘Skip’ Holbrook announces the arrest of Ja’Quivian A. Kennerly, He’s charged with Murder, Two Counts of Attempted Murder, Possession of a Weapon during a Violent Crime, and Discharging a Firearm into an Occupied Vehicle. He turned himself in to CPD investigators this morning. The United States Marshal Service’s Carolinas Regional Task Force aided CPD in the investigation.

On November 14, 2024, Kennerly is accused of shooting at a vehicle multiple times in the parking lot of 151 Harbison Boulevard in an attempt to physically harm two passengers.

A third victim, identified by the Lexington County Coroner as Antoinette Hammonds-Colon was standing in the parking lot when she was struck by gunfire in the upper body. She died at a local hospital. No one else was injured. CPD Investigators believe the shooting stemmed from a prior dispute.

All persons arrested/charged are presumed innocent until or unless proven guilty in a court of law.
