Arrest Made in Fatal Hit & Run Investigation

By January 3, 2025Press Releases

The Columbia Police Department’s (CPD) Traffic Safety Unit (TSU) officers have arrested a female driver in connection with last month’s fatal hit-and-run collision involving a pedestrian.

31-year-old Tierra F. Johnson is charged with Hit and Run Accident Involving Death and Failure to Give Information and Render Aid. In court today, a judge set Johnson’s surety bond at $75,000.

On December 19, 2024, at the 5400 block of Farrow Road, Johnson is accused of driving a Ford pickup truck and striking a male pedestrian who’s been identified by the Richland County Coroner’s Office as 71-year-old John Corbett.  He was pronounced deceased at the collision scene.  Suspect Johnson is further accused of leaving that location, not returning to render aid to the victim, and not notifying police about what happened.

The Richland County Coroner’s Office assisted CPD with the investigation.

All persons arrested/charged are presumed innocent until or unless proven guilty in a court of law.
