Columbia Police Department (CPD) officers have arrested a 36-year-old man in connection with a domestic-related fatal shooting that happened on the victim’s birthday.
Police Chief W.H. ‘Skip’ Holbrook announces that Cordera B. Hopkins is charged with Murder, Possession of a Weapon during a Violent Crime, and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. Hopkins is prohibited from carrying a firearm due to a previous Assault and Battery with Intent to Kill conviction.
(A current Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center booking photograph of Hopkins is not available.)
Shortly before 7:00 p.m. on June 29, 2025, Hopkins allegedly shot his companion, identified by the Richland County Coroner’s Office as Monique Worthy, on her 42nd birthday. Worthy was pronounced deceased inside a Levity Street home. CPD investigators continue to determine the specific motive for the shooting.
