Three Teenagers Charged in Connection with Murder Investigation

Three male teenagers have been arrested and charged in connection with a fatal shooting that happened at an apartment complex last month.

According to Police Chief W.H. ‘Skip’ Holbrook, 18-year-old Mason N. Taylor is charged with Murder and Possession of a Weapon during the Commission of a Violent Crime. Taylor is accused of shooting the victim, identified by the Richland County Coroner’s Office as 29-year-old Devonte Redmond, in the upper body while at 4000 Plowden Road (Columbia Gardens Apartments) on October 15, 2025.

The second suspect, 18-year-old Daquan D. Macon, is charged with Misprision of a Felony (neglect in reporting a crime) and Accessory After the Fact to Murder. Macon is accused of being present during the crime and failing to prevent suspect Taylor from shooting the victim. Macon is also accused of not reporting the crime to police, disposing of the murder weapon, and helping Taylor escape the incident location.

The third suspect, Jalil R. Medlock is also charged with Misprision of a Felony for allegedly being present during the fatal shooting and failing to prevent suspect Taylor from shooting the victim, and not reporting the crime to police.

The case is being investigated by the Violent Crimes against Persons (VCAP) Unit. The CPD Fugitive Team and the SC Law Enforcement Division (SLED) assisted in the arrest of the suspects.

The suspects have been booked at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center (ASGDC).

All persons arrested/charged are presumed innocent until or unless proven guilty in a court of law.
