Reducing and Preventing Gun Crimes with Gun Seizures

As part of Columbia Police Chief W.H. ‘Skip’ Holbrook’s on-going efforts to reduce, prevent and deter violent gun crimes throughout the City of Columbia, the Columbia Police Department has been highlighting various gun seizures on the CPD website. CPD officers have confiscated the firearms from persons who were not legally allowed to possess a gun and/or during the commission of a violent crime, or traffic stops.  The public dissemination effort began on February 10, 2020.  If you see gun crime in your neighborhood, Chief Holbrook encourages citizens with information to contact CRIMESTOPPERS in any of the following ways: CALL toll-free, 888-CRIME-SC.  LOG onto: www.midlandscrimestoppers.com, and click on the red “Submit a tip” tab. DOWNLOAD the new P3 Tips App for Apple or Android devices.

Some of the seized firearms have been reported stolen. If a firearm is lost or stolen, it is imperative to advise law enforcement.

To aid police with the theft investigation, firearm record keeping is important. We’ve made the following link available:
