Shooting Incident on King Street

Police Chief Skip Holbrook announces that on Friday, January 01, 2016 at around 7:00 pm Columbia Police responded to the 1100 block of King Street in Columbia pertaining to gunshots being heard in the area.

Upon arriving on scene police found two individuals whom sustained gunshot wounds to their lower extremities. A 41 year old female sustained gunshot wounds to her leg and thigh area and a 20 year old male sustained a gunshot wound to his lower backside area.

Both individuals were transported to a local area hospital where they were treated for non-life threatening injuries. It is not clear what prompted the shooting or whether the individuals who sustained injury know the suspect or suspects. Columbia Police Officers continue to investigate.
