Columbia Police Chief Skip Holbrook announces that a K9 Team aided in the capture of two suspects accused of stealing a man’s car at gunpoint. The suspects, Tareeck Hinton (DOB: 7-9-1997) and Dominque Profit (DOB: 10-27-1988) are charged with Armed Robbery, Grand Larceny of a Motor Vehicle and Possession of a Weapon during the Commission of a Violent Crime, and Unlawful Carrying of a Pistol.

The duo allegedly stole a Chevy Silverado, money and a cell phone from the male victim at gunpoint shortly after 3 o’clock yesterday morning at 3245 Lucius Road.

North Region officers spotted the stolen car and initiated a lawful traffic stop. The suspects allegedly drove to Laurel Street where they got out of the car and ran away.

Additional officers arrived on scene to help, including a K9 Team that tracked the suspects to the 2100 block of Barhamville Road.

Hinton was found hiding underneath a crawl space at a residence – Profit was located under a parked car in the driveway.

The trained canine engaged Profit in the upper right arm and soon after, Hinton in the right leg. Both suspects were arrested on scene and taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Profit was treated and released by doctors yesterday; Hinton continues to receive medical attention for his injury and was served his arrest warrants in the hospital.

It’s believed that a third male suspect was involved in the crime. Investigators continue to gather information regarding him.

The victim was not physically injured during the incident.

All persons arrested/charged are presumed innocent until or unless proven guilty in a court of law.
