Columbia Police Chief Skip Holbrook announces that CPD is investigating a suspicious death. A man was found inside a vehicle at 1001 Harden Street shortly before 1:30 this morning.

Officers were dispatched to the location along with EMS when the man was found unresponsive. EMS personnel pronounced him deceased at the scene.

According to Richland County Coroner Gary Watts, the man has been identified as Levi Michael Happy (DOB: 2-27-1994) of Prosperity, South Carolina.

Coroner Watts says that the cause of death is a gunshot wound to the lower abdomen. At this time, CPD is investigating the death as suspicious.

While Investigators work to determine the circumstances surrounding Happy’s death, they are talking with his acquaintances and reviewing surveillance video.
