McGrath Street Murder Suspect Extradited to Columbia

The third and final murder suspect charged in connection with last month’s shooting death on Magrath Street has been extradited and is currently behind bars at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center in Richland County.

Jamal Trutus Curtis Hughey (DOB: 9-19-1993) was initially arrested on August 3, 2016 by members of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force and Wilson Police Department officers in Wilson, North Carolina. CPD has charged Hughey with Murder, Attempted Murder, and Possession of a Firearm during a Violent Crime.

The lead investigator on the case and a CPD officer assigned to the U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force traveled to North Carolina to transport Hughey back to Columbia.

Hughey is accused of shooting and killing a man and injuring another victim after an argument at the 3400 block of Magrath Street on July 30, 2016.

Two of Hughey’s alleged accomplices were arrested by North Region officers at a Doctor’s Circle home on July 31, 2016.

Tyrone Hollins, Junior (DOB: 10-5-1992) is charged with Murder and Attempted Murder. His brother Keoki Hollins (DOB: 6-15-1995) is charged with Murder, Attempted Murder and Possession of a Firearm during a Violent Crime.

Investigators continue to determine the shooting’s motive but believe the crime was an isolated incident. All persons arrested/charged are presumed innocent until or unless proven guilty in a court of law.
