Stolen Vehicle Investigation

By January 20, 2017Press Releases

Columbia Police Chief Skip Holbrook announces the arrests of two teenagers in connection with a stolen vehicle investigation.

Teron Demarquis Weston (DOB: 3-19-1997) is charged with Possession of a Stolen Vehicle.

Antwan Jamil Allen (DOB: 2-3-1999) is charged with Possession of a Stolen Vehicle and Conspiracy.

Yesterday, the suspects are accused of being two of three occupants inside of a stolen 2005 Dodge Durango.

A CPD officer on patrol saw the vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed in the 500 block of Lakeside Drive. The officer followed the suspects through several neighborhoods while in contact with 9-1-1 dispatchers, and briefly lost sight of the vehicle.

When the officer located the vehicle, he followed the suspects as they turned on to the 4000 block of Courtridge Street.  Dispatchers confirmed that the vehicle was reported stolen from the Richland County Sheriff’s Department’s jurisdiction.

Before the officer could initiate a traffic stop, the suspects made an evasive turn, and the vehicle accelerated toward the dead end of Courtridge Street.

During that time, all three occupants were seen by the officer exiting from the same moving vehicle.

One occupant was hit by that stolen vehicle before it landed in the wood line. The officer called for EMS to arrive on scene.

Due to the extent of the injuries, Richland County Coroner Gary Watts has announced that Djon D’Angelo McDaniel (DOB: 9-19-1998) was pronounced deceased at a local hospital early this morning.

After a foot chase, Weston and Allen were apprehended on Woodridge Drive by North Region officers and members of the K9 Team.

The crash incident is being investigated by the South Carolina Highway Patrol (SCHP).

Subsequent to Allen being captured yesterday, CPD had outstanding warrants for his arrest in connection with a stolen vehicle investigation from January 7, 2017.

In that case, Allen is accused of stealing a 2005 Subaru Impreza from an Edgefield Street home and has been charged with Grand Larceny.

The keys to the vehicle were stolen from the same location a few days prior. Allen is a possible suspect in the home burglary.

Both Allen and Weston were booked at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center (ASGDC). All persons arrested/charged are presumed innocent until or unless proven guilty in a court of law.
