Columbia Police Department Hosts Media Day

On January 31, 2017, the Columbia Police Department (CPD) hosted an inaugural Media Day from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. Local television and print media representatives were invited to CPD Headquarters to learn more about the department’s 2017 initiatives. Chief Skip Holbrook and staff presented information about the Citizen’s Police Academy, Citizen’s Advisory Council, Public Data Initiative and updates to the Public Information Office after-hour procedures.

In addition, the media representatives participated in a Q&A session, providing feedback on their coverage of the department.

“As we continue the implementation of 21st Century Policing and advancing our initiative, this meeting focused on Pillar 1 – Building Trust and Legitimacy and Pillar 3 – Technology and Social Media, which further demonstrates our commitment to building relationships, being transparent and accountable,” stated Chief Holbrook.
