Crimestoppers: Armed Man Wanted for Robberies

Columbia Police officers are working to identify an armed suspect who stole money from one City of Columbia business and tried to rob another last night.

First, the man is accused of demanding money from Family Dollar store located at 942 Broad River Road shortly after 7:00 p.m. (February 7, 2017)

The victim tells CPD that the suspect pointed a gun at her and demanded money. When she couldn’t open a register, the man left the store.

The same suspect is believed to have to stolen money at gunpoint from the Corner Pantry convenience store located at 1609 Beltline Boulevard shortly before 9:30 p.m.

No one was injured during the incidents.

The suspect is described as a black male, possibly between 20-30 years old, with a dark dread lock ponytail and mustache. He was last seen wearing a white tank top, blue jeans, red shoes and a red bandanna to cover the lower part of his face.

In both crimes, the man was seen getting into a 1990’s model Honda Accord with SC license plate: 99381-W.

CPD is working with the Lexington County Sheriff’s Office on a similar case involving the suspect.
