Columbia Police Officers Make Second Arrest in Bailey Street Murder Investigation

Columbia Police Department Investigators have charged a second male in connection with the deadly shooting that occurred at the Colony Apartments.

Raheem Nyjahl Thomas (DOB:5-28-1995) is charged with Murder and Armed Robbery.  Thomas was found and arrested on Prescott Road yesterday.

Thomas and co-defendant Daquan James McCoy (DOB: 2-1-1996), who was arrested and charged last week, are accused of going to Bailey Street on February 17, 2017 to rob the male victim, who’s been identified by Richland County Coroner Gary Watts as James Dexter Grant.

Initial information indicates that Grant and another man went to Bailey Street to sell a car to a resident at the Colony Apartments and was shot and robbed during the transaction.

Suspect: Daquan McCoy

Both suspects are  housed at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center (ASGDC).

All persons arrested/charged are presumed innocent until or unless proven guilty in a court of law.
