Crimestoppers: Pedestrian Fatally Injured during Hit and Run Incident

The Columbia Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit is investigating a fatal collision involving a female pedestrian and a vehicle.

The incident happened at approximately 6:30 on March 3, 2017 at the 3600 block of Broad River Road.

As a result, the victim who’s been identified by Richland County Coroner Gary Watts as 67-year-old Alicesene Dear Gilmore (DOB: 12-26-1949) of Hopkins died from blunt force trauma to the torso.

Medical staff pronounced Gilmore deceased shortly before midnight (March 4, 2017) at a local hospital.

Initial information indicates that Gilmore and two relatives were walking from Trenton Court Apartments to a local store when a vehicle struck Gilmore and left the scene.

According to witnesses, the vehicle is possibly white. Traffic Safety officers are working to gather specific information about the vehicle, and to determine if surveillance video captured the incident. So far, they’ve identified a car of interest that may be connected to the case.
