Suspect: Charles Lamb SC Sex Offender Registry Photograph taken 2/8/17
Columbia Police Investigators have arrested and charged a registered sex offender accused of sexually assaulting an elderly female.
Charles Lamb (DOB: 2-3-1971) is charged with Criminal Sexual Conduct – First Degree, Kidnapping, Strong Armed Robbery and Trespassing..
Lamb was located at Lexington Medical Center (LMC) this evening after a hospital employee recognized him from news reports about the alleged crimes. The employee quickly notified the LMC Public Safety Department, and when officers arrived on scene, Lamb is accused of running outside. After a brief foot chase, Lamb was detained. LMC officers called CPD to transfer custody.
Lamb is accused of sexually assaulting a 61-year-old victim inside of a restroom stall at 9 Richland Medical Park Drive yesterday afternoon. Lamb is also accused of trying to steal money from her purse.
The crime was interrupted when a witness walked into the restroom, causing Lamb to run away from the scene.
The victim suffered from head injuries during a struggle and was medically treated at the scene.

Lamb is currently housed at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center (ASGDC).
