Two male children, ages 7 and 9 are accused of breaking into a Hibiscus Street home earlier this week.
Columbia Police officers were dispatched to the 1300 block of Hibiscus Street on Monday, May 8, 2017 after a 9-1-1 caller reportedly saw two little boys burglarizing the home.
Officers found a broken window at the back of the home and additional evidence inside. While the boys are not accused of stealing anything, damage estimates are approximately $200.
The boys were detained on scene and their guardians were notified of the incident. The guardians signed a ‘juvenile petition,’ which is a formal document alleging that a child committed a criminal act. The petition also means that the suspect (s) must attend a family court hearing where a judge will decide whether the juvenile is guilty or not guilty.
