Man Charged with DUI after Collision with Moped Rider

Members of the Columbia Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit have arrested a 52-year-old man after a three vehicle collision on Bluff Road.

Jimmy Gartman, Junior, (DOB: 4-30-1965) is charged with Driving Under the Influence (DUI). He is accused of colliding with a moped at the 3000 block of Bluff Road near I-77 shortly before 9:00 p.m. last night. The impact caused the moped to collide with a third vehicle. As a result, the male moped driver suffered broken bones and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. No one else was seriously injured.

Gartman requested medical attention while in custody. He was treated and released from a local hospital and taken to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center (ASGDC).

All person arrested/charged are presumed innocent until or unless proven guilty in a court of law.
