Columbia Police Investigators have arrested a man accused of shooting and killing a relative during a family gathering last night.
Christopher Jamaal Jones (DOB: 5-28-1991) who was arrested at the incident location, 2100 block of Apple Valley Road is charged with Murder.
Jones is accused of shooting the victim during an argument at a graduation celebration shortly before 9:00 p.m. on June 3, 2017.
According to Richland County Coroner Gary Watts, 31-year-old Jarritt Demonteze Rodgers died during surgery at a local hospital after being shot in the neck and upper body.
Jones is being held at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
All persons arrested/charged are presumed innocent until or unless proven guilty in a court of law.
