Crimestoppers: Hit & Run Investigation Involving a Moped Driver

The Columbia Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit (TSU) is investigating a hit and run collision involving a moped.

As a result, the 52-year-old moped driver suffered a broken ankle and several abrasions. He has since been treated and released from a local hospital.

A North Region patrolman found the victim lying on the ground at the 300 block of Sunset Drive yesterday (June 25) afternoon.

The male victim tells CPD officers that he was struck from behind by an unknown vehicle, causing him to lose control and slide across the roadway.

The driver of the vehicle in question did not stop after the collision. The TSU continues to determine if the incident was captured on surveillance video.
