Arrest: Falling Springs Road Shooting Investigation

Columbia Police Investigators have arrested a 19-year-old male in connection with an overnight shooting and larceny investigation on Falling Springs Road.

Zayvone Tornell Green (DOB: 10-24-1997) is charged with Larceny and is currently housed at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center (ASGDC).

Shortly after the crime, officers found Green hiding in a closet at an apartment located at 3642 Falling Springs Road.

Green is accused of stealing a cell phone and watch from a male around midnight at the same location. During Green’s arrest, officers recovered the stolen items.

Green and a male friend went to Falling Springs Apartments to meet two males who wanted to sell a watch valued at approximately $1,000.

During the meeting, Green is accused of stealing the watch and cell phone before running away from the scene. His friend also ran and was shot twice in the buttocks and hand by one of the larceny victims.

The two larceny victims stayed on scene and called 9-1-1. When officers arrived, two in particular rendered aid to the shooting victim by using supplies in the department-issued medical kit to apply bandages to the wounds before EMS arrived. The man continues to receive medical treatment for his non-life threatening injuries.

Investigators are working with the Fifth Circuit Solicitor’s Office to determine  whether criminal charges apply for the shooter.

All persons arrested/charged are presumed innocent until or unless proven guilty in a court of law.
