Man Accused of Assaulting Two Police Officers at Bus Station

Columbia Police Officers have charged a 22-year-old man with assault, among other violations after an incident at a local bus station.

As a result, Damien Johnson (DOB: 1-18-1995) is charged with Two Counts of Assault on a Police Officer while Resisting Arrest, Public Disorderly Conduct, Auto-Breaking, Larceny and Malicious Injury to Property.

The charges stem from last Wednesday afternoon ( July 19, 2017) at the Buckner Road Greyhound Bus Station.

Initially, employees called 9-1-1 to report that a man, armed with a baseball bat acting disorderly at the facility.

Johnson is accused of using the baseball bat to damage several windows on a parked vehicle for an unknown reason.

When officers arrived, Johnson allegedly became combative during the arrest process by biting one officer in the arm and kicking another in the face. Both officers did not receive life-threatening injuries.

Johnson remains housed at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center (ASGDC) under a $75,000 bond.

All persons arrested/charged are presumed innocent until or unless proven guilty in a court of law.
