Columbia Police to Conduct DUI & Public Safety Checkpoint Tomorrow

The Columbia Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit will conduct DUI enforcement and a public safety checkpoint on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 in North Columbia.

Officers will enhance patrols tomorrow to deter reckless and impaired driving, speeding and other motor vehicle violations that can cause collisions.

Every vehicle that enters a checkpoint will be stopped.

Officers will check drivers for:

* Valid driver’s license

* Possible Impairment

* Seatbelt Use

* Proper child restraints (when applicable)

* Any other violations of law that may be observed

Safety Tips:

* Find a designated driver if you are planning to consume alcohol

* Wear your seatbelt

* Obey the rules of the road

* Do not speed

* Stay alert

* Do not text and drive

Drivers are encouraged to call 9-1-1, or *HP if they suspect that a driver is impaired or reckless.
