Arrest Made in Cherry Street Shooting Investigation

Columbia Police investigators have arrested a 33-year-old man in connection with an overnight shooting investigation.

Louis Ravenell (DOB: 10-13-1986) is charged with Attempted Murder and Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Violent Crime.

Ravenell is accused of firing multiple gunshots at a male acquaintance at approximately 12:30 this morning at 2549 Cherry Street after an argument and fight. As a result, the male victim was injured in the lower body.

When officers arrived on scene and found the victim, they immediately administered first aid from a department-issued medical kit before EMS arrived to take him to a local hospital. At last check, medical staff advised CPD that the man was in stable condition.

Ravenell is currently housed at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.

All persons arrested/charged are presumed innocent until or unless proven guilty in a court of law.
