Officers Seize Narcotics & More than $100K in Cash from Local Apartment

Members with the Columbia Police Department’s Organized Crime and Narcotics (OCN) Unit have arrested a 31-year-old man after a search warrant uncovered thousands in cash and drugs.

Brian Canty (DOB: 4-14-1986) is charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine, Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of a Scheduled II Controlled Substance.

Officers executed the search warrant yesterday afternoon at Canty’s home located at 1601 Main Street (Lofts at Lourie’s) after CPD received multiple complaints that Mast General store, directly below the apartment, smelled like marijuana.

OCN officers addressed the concern, and as a result, uncovered narcotics and more than $115, 300 in cash. All of the items were seized as evidence for the investigation.

Canty was transported to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.

All persons arrested/charged are presumed innocent until or unless proven guilty in a court of law.
