Arrest Made in Duke Avenue Collision (Car vs. House)

Columbia Police investigators have charged a man in connection with the overnight car collision on Duke Avenue.

Officers with CPD’s Traffic Safety and Special Victim’s Units are conducting a joint investigation.

As a result, Carlos Alexander Brown (DOB: 8-16-1984) is charged with Criminal Domestic Violence of a High and Aggravated Nature.

Brown is accused of initially arguing with a female friend shortly after midnight at the 4200 block of McQueen Street. The argument turned physical when Brown allegedly assaulted her inside the home.

The pair left the home and traveled down the 400 block of Duke Avenue. Brown who was the passenger is accused of grabbing the steering wheel and causing the vehicle to hit a parked car before crashing into a home.

A 17-year-old male was sleeping inside of the residence at the time but was not seriously injured. He was taken to a local hospital as a precaution.

Brown and the passenger were also transported to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries. The passenger has since been treated and released.

At last check Brown was still housed at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center (ASGDC) under a $25,000 bond.

All persons arrested/charged are presumed innocent until or unless proven guilty in a court of law.
