Columbia Police Department Asks Citizens to Join the #9PMRoutine

By September 1, 2017Press Releases

Be on the lookout for the hashtag, #9PMRoutine, on the Columbia Police Department’s social media accounts. Created by the Pasco Sheriff’s Department in Florida, the safety campaign uses the hashtag #9PMRoutine and is geared towards increasing awareness for citizens by reminding them to lock up at 9 PM.

To decrease crimes of opportunity, citizens that follow CPD on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram will receive reminders to follow the #9PMRoutine. Citizens are asked to remove valuables from sight in their vehicles, lock car doors, close windows and lock doors at their residence every night.

Through the implementation of this social media campaign, our goal is to get citizens on-board with a daily safety routine. By following the #9PMRoutine, citizens can help reduce crimes of opportunity city-wide.” ~Police Chief Skip Holbrook
