CPD Traffic Safety Unit to Conduct DUI & Public Safety Checkpoint | Sept. 2

The Columbia Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit will conduct DUI enforcement and a public safety checkpoint this evening near Five Points. Officers will enhance patrols to deter reckless and impaired driving, speeding and other motor vehicle violations that can cause collisions.

Every vehicle that enters a checkpoint will be stopped and officers will check drivers for the following:

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Possible Impairment
  • Seatbelt Use
  • Proper child restraints (when applicable)
  • Any other violations of law that may be observed

Drivers are encouraged to call 9-1-1, or *HP if they suspect that a driver is impaired or reckless.
