Fatal Collision | 1400 Screaming Eagle Road

By September 14, 2017Press Releases

Columbia Police Department Traffic Safety officers continue to investigate a single car fatal collision that occurred early this morning at the 1400 block of Screaming Eagle Road.

Preliminary information indicates that the man was traveling westbound shortly before 5:00 a.m. when he lost control of the car. As he over-corrected, he drove on the opposite side of the roadway and the vehicle overturned.

The driver was wearing a seat belt. Columbia Fire crews helped to get the driver out of the vehicle.

As CPD investigators continue to determine the cause of the collision, it appears that inclement weather and speed may have been factors in the incident.

The Richland County Coroner’s Office is assisting CPD with the investigation.
