Fatal Motorcycle Collision

The Columbia Police Department’s (CPD) Traffic Safety Unit continues to investigate a fatal motorcycle collision that occurred in North Columbia last night.

The preliminary investigation indicates that a 26-year-old male motorcycle driver was traveling westbound at the 900 block of Broad River Road where it collided with a Dodge Avenger in the parking lot.

The 21-year-old female driver of the Avenger is accused of making an improper turn and failing to yield the right of way, causing the motorcycle driver to collide with the vehicle.

The motorcycle victim was taken to a local hospital where medical staff pronounced him deceased.

The Richland County Coroner’s Office is assisting CPD with the investigation.

Charges against the female driver are pending.
