Traffic Safety Unit | Traffic Stop Yields Drugs; Nets Two Arrests

The Columbia Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit  have arrested two men after a traffic stop in North Columbia early this morning.

Charlie Denzell Mitchell (DOB: 4-13-1987) is charged with Speeding, Driving Under Suspension, Operating an Uninsured Vehicle, and Simple Possession of Marijuana.

Edward Laverne Glover, Junior is charged with Simple Possession of Marijuana.

The pair was charged early this morning at the 5500 block of North Main Street. When an officer initiated the traffic stop, he detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside of the car.

He requested additional officers to assist in detaining the suspects and search the vehicle. Officers found marijuana and a white, powdery substance that has been submitted for testing.

Additional charges could be filed in this case. North Region officers assisted the TSU with this case.

Mitchell and Glover were booked at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.

All persons arrested/charged are presumed innocent until or unless proven guilty in a court of law.
