Columbia Police Department (CPD) investigators announce the arrest of a 26-year-old man accused of sexually assaulting a female this week.
Darius Nelson (DOB: 11-13-1990) is charged with Criminal Sexual Conduct – First Degree, Kidnapping, and Assault and Battery of a High and Aggravated Nature. Nelson was arrested overnight by the CPD Fugitive Team without incident.
Nelson is accused of forcing the female victim to a secluded area at the 700 block of Saluda Avenue at approximately 2:30 a.m. on November 8, 2017 and sexually assaulting her.
During the crime, the victim also suffered significant facial injuries after the suspect hit her several times. As a result, the female received medical treatment.
Nelson is currently housed at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center (ASGDC).
All persons arrested/charged are presumed innocent unless or until proven guilty in a court of law.
