The Columbia Police Department (CPD) Traffic Safety Unit (TSU) officers are investigating a fatal collision that occurred last night.
The incident occurred at the 2900 block of Screaming Eagle Road Extension shortly before midnight.
The initial investigation indicates that the male driver was speeding, disregarded a stop sign at the intersection of Screaming Eagle and McCords Ferry Road before striking a tree.
The Richland County Coroner’s Office is assisting CPD with the investigation.
