A 24-year-old man has been arrested by Columbia Police investigators after being accused of breaking into a house and assaulting a male inside.
As a result, Vernon Lee Hayes, III (DOB: 1-7-1994) is charged with Second Degree Burglary and First Degree Assault and Battery and Failure to Stop on Police Command.
Hayes is accused of breaking into a female friend’s Bailey Street home on January 8, 2018 and assaulting a male before running away from the scene. K-9 Unit tracked Hayes to Grant Street.
At last check today, Hayes was still being detained at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center (ASDGC).
All persons arrested charged are presumed innocent until or unless proven guilty in a court of law.
