Arrest Made in Weekend Stabbing

Columbia Police Department investigators have arrested a 43-year-old man following a weekend stabbing.

Ray Brooks is charged with Attempted Murder and Possession of a Weapon during a Violent Crime.  A judge set his $50,000 bond in court this morning.

Brooks allegedly stabbed another man multiple times in the upper body at a home on 3245 Lucius Road early Sunday morning. Investigators continue to determine a motive for the crime.  Brooks was arrested on site.

Brooks, the victim and several others were attending a party when the stabbing occurred. At this time, it is not believed that the suspect and victim are friends.

When North Region officers arrived on scene, they immediately rendered aid to the victim by using equipment from their department-issued medical kit until EMS arrived.

The victim was taken to a local hospital where he has since been treated and released.

Brooks remains at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center (ASGDC).

All persons arrested/charged are presumed innocent until or unless proven guilty in a court of law.
