Investigators with the Columbia Police Department (CPD) Violent Crimes Against Persons Unit have arrested a man accused stabbing a friend early this morning.
17-year-old Diego Gomez Garcia is charged with Attempted Murder after being accused of stabbing his male roommate multiple times in the head, face and neck.
The victim remains at the hospital for his life-threatening injuries.
The stabbing occurred after an argument at approximately 3:00 a.m. at the 3500 block of Palmetto Avenue.
After the incident, the suspect allegedly fled to a home on Chestnut Oak Ridge and was arrested by Lexington County Sheriff’s Department deputies.
Gomez-Garcia is booked at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center (ASGDC).
All persons arrested/charged are presumed innocent until or unless proven guilty in a court or law.
