Update: Calk Street Death Now a Murder Investigation

Columbia Police Department (CPD) officers are now investigating the suspicious death of a female over the weekend as a homicide.

The 50-year-old victim, identified by Richland County Coroner Gary Watts as Angela Lee Young was found deceased at the 3000 block of Calk Street yesterday morning.

According to Watts, Young died from a gunshot wound to the upper body. A citizen saw her unresponsive in the roadway and called 9-1-1.

Young’s family is releasing a picture of her to generate Crimestoppers tips from the public.

Investigators are seeking persons of interest to ask them questions about the case.
