Crimestoppers: Attempted Murder Investigation

By February 12, 2019Press Releases

Columbia Police Department (CPD) officers are investigating an attempted murder case involving a male victim who was shot multiple times over the weekend.

Initially, Traffic Safety Unit (TSU) officers responded to Shop Road and I-77 shortly before 3:00 a.m. on February 9, 2019, for a reported single vehicle collision.

Officers located a 22-year-old male with severe injuries he sustained in the crash. Officers believe the driver first lost control of the vehicle, drove over a median, causing the vehicle to overturn several times before coming to rest in a wooded area.

After the man was taken to a local hospital by EMS, medical staff notified CPD that the victim also sustained several gunshot wounds.

Due to additional injuries, officers with CPD’s Criminal Investigations Division (CID) are working to determine where the shooting occurred and who’s responsible for the crime.
