Crimestoppers: Suspicious Death Investigation Continues

Columbia Police Chief W.H. ‘Skip’ Holbrook announces that officers continue to investigate a suspicious death after a man was found deceased outside of a business last week.

CPD officers were dispatched to the 5400 block of Forest Drive on Friday, April 5, 2019 shortly after 9:00 a.m.

A passerby found the man near the parking lot of the San Jose Restaurant with no signs of life and called 9-1-1.

According to Richland County Coroner Gary Watts, 35 year-old Charles Arthur Crane died from blunt force injuries.

CPD investigators are working to determine whether Crane’s death was intentional or accidental.
