Crimestoppers: Fatal Shooting Investigation | Beaumont Street

Columbia Police Chief W.H. ‘Skip’ Holbrook announces that CPD officers are investigating the fatal shooting of a 55-year-old man.

CPD officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert at 3304 Beaumont Street at 11:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 15, 2019.  Officers discovered the victim on the ground with an apparent gunshot injury and called for an ambulance. When EMS arrived, they pronounced the man deceased on scene.

Richland County Coroner Gary Watts conducted an autopsy today and determined the victim died as a result of a gunshot wound to the torso.  The Richland County Coroner’s Office is working to locate next of kin.

CPD Investigators collected ballistic evidence at the scene and talked with residents.
