Columbia Police Department (CPD) investigators are making significant progress regarding a fatal overnight shooting at an apartment complex. 
Officers were dispatched to 7311 Patterson Road shortly before 4:30 a.m. and discovered the male victim outside of a residence with gunshot wounds to the upper body. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Richland County Coroner Gary Watts has identified the victim as 25-year-old Michael Brice. Ballistic evidence was collected at the scene.
