Man Arrested in Illegal Dumping Investigation

An investigation into a series of vehicle tire dumps led to the arrest of Mujahid Muhammad (DOB: 05/18/1982), announced Columbia Police Chief W. H. “Skip” Holbrook.

Muhammad is charged with Littering / Littering exceeding 500 pounds or 100 cubic feet in volume. The suspect is alleged to have used a rental truck to transport and dump vehicle tires between June 14, 2019 and September 19, 2019 at 301 Sunset Drive. Surveillance cameras were installed on the property by the Code Enforcement Division and an analysis of the footage led to the capture and arrest of the suspect.

Muhammad is currently housed at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center (ASGDC).

All persons arrested/charged are presumed innocent until or unless proven guilty in a court of law.
