Update: Shooting Arrest (Rosedale Arch)

Columbia Police Department (CPD) officers have made an arrest in an isolated overnight shooting that injured a man in the lower body.

As a result, 21-year-old Rayshide Teekyon Maxwell is housed at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center (ASGDC) charged with Attempted Murder and Possession of a Weapon during the Commission of a Violent Crime.  Initially, Maxwell was detained at the scene by responding officers shortly after the crime.

Maxwell is accused of shooting the 51-year-old victim at the 800 block of Rosedale Arch near Ashley Street. Officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert shortly before 4:00 a.m. and found the victim with a gunshot wound to the lower body. Officers applied first aid to the victim with a tourniquet and other supplies from their department-issued medical kit. At last check, the victim was in stable condition.

All persons arrested/charged are presumed innocent until or unless  proven guilty in a court of law.
