COVID-19 Health Alert Information Cards

At the direction of Columbia Police Chief W.H. “Skip” Holbrook, the following health alert cards will be distributed by Columbia Police Department (CPD) officers to aid in the reinforcement of the World Health Organization’s recommendations to stop the spread of COVID-19, and South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster’s mandatory order for South Carolina visitors to self-quarantine.

The Governor’s Executive Order (No. 2020-14) that went into effect on March 27, 2020 says in part, ‘individuals who enter the State of South Carolina from an area with substantial community spread of COVID-19 shall be required to isolate or self-quarantine for a period of fourteen (14) days from the time of entry into the State of South Carolina or  the duration of the individual’s presence in South Carolina, whichever period is shorter…’

Per state law, failure to follow the Executive Order could result in a $100 fine or up to 30 days in jail.

The health alert portion of the cards include information and recommendations from the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC), the South Carolina Emergency Management Division (SCEMD) and The World Health Organization (WHO).
