Update: Arrests Made in Connection with Hostile Protests

Columbia Police Chief W.H. “Skip” Holbrook and Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott announce that  arrests have been made in connection with hostile protests that occurred in May in downtown Columbia.

Team of investigators from both agencies have collected and reviewed multiple hours worth of body-camera videos and surveillance videos as part of the overall investigation.

The suspects included below were either identified with the help of Crimestoppers tips or through investigative teams from CPD, RCSD, and the SC Law Enforcement Division (SLED).  The United States Marshals Service has assisted CPD and RCSD in locating and arresting suspects.

The alleged crimes were committed on May 30 -31, 2020 at either Columbia Police Headquarters – #1 Justice Square, 400 Assembly Street (Green’s Beverage Outlet), corner of Main and Gervais Streets, 920 Lady Street (Carolina Western Pub), the 800 block Hampton Street.

*Please note, arrest information will be updated as suspects are identified, located and charged*

Most of the suspects were initially housed at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center (ASGDC).

*All persons arrested/charged are presumed innocent until or unless proven guilty in a court of law.*
